Backyard Mishkan

Welcome to an earth loving, non-binary, diasporic, intergenerational, justice centered, art-filled, joyous Jewish culture rooted in a torah of nonviolence and radical hospitality.

BackYard Mishkan offers monthly Sabbath celebrations, b’mitzvah preparation, art and storytelling, & life cycle ceremony.

We observe the following values: We act in steadfast love and solidarity with communities who are owed reparative justice for ongoing systemic harms. We support multi-lingual, multi-heritage and queer households and individuals. No theology necessary.

Creation Pageant
The 2022-2023 season of Backyard Mishkan will kick off on September 25 with a Creation Pageant to celebrate Rosh Hashanah.

Monthly Shabbat
Gather with families in a Berkeley backyard once a month for joyous art making, eating, schmoozing and ceremony. Gatherings are on Saturday mornings from 9:30-11:30am. Contact rabbilynng@gmail.com for more information.

B’mitzvah Training
B'mitzvah training can include Hebrew language tutorial, prayer and liturgy preparation, chanting torah, drash preparation. Session regularity varies based on the family’s needs. For more information, contact rabbilynng@gmail.com.
